ABOUT US

Positive Exposure- Kenya (PE-Kenya) exists to promote the well-being of persons with albinism (PWA) by providing an opportunity for PWA, their families and communities to celebrate diversity, challenge stigma and celebrate each individuals’ extraordinary uniqueness, implementing appropriate sustainable projects across thematic programs on awareness & advocacy, socio-economic empowerment & social protection.

It was initiated by Jane Waithera (a woman with albinism in January 2010 drawing inspiration from the works of Rick Guidotti. The organization was formally registered in July 2011 under the NGO’s coordination board (Sec 10) NGO act as an NGO with the main goal to challenge stigma, fear and discrimination and support positive social change in relation to albinism in Kenya and later to other African countries.

Providing the opportunity for PWA & their co-relations to celebrate diversity, challenge stigma and embrace each individual’s extraordinary uniqueness. Thus Improving PWA lives by implementing appropriate programmes on health, education, survival, participation and development through engaging the community in public awareness, advocacy, economic empowerment and social Protection.

OUR STRATEGY

PE-Kenya implements specific projects that have direct and positive effect on the wellbeing of persons with albinism and their relations  in the society  and battle the challenges.  The projects align against the three pillars of PE-Kenya work and are currently being guided by our strategic direction which is drawn from the following strategic objectives.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

  • To develop the capacity of PE-Kenya to deliver innovative & sustainable quality and effective services to PWA.
  • To create greater public awareness on issues related to albinism.
  • To advocate with the government and other stakeholders for increased access to quality health, education and training for PWA at all levels.
  • To promote the social economic empowerment of PWA in order to enhance their independence and enhance their self esteem.
  • To advocate and readdress issues affecting women & girls with albinism
